Privacy Policy

YACL — the Young Adults Community League — is a community sports league based in Queensland, Australia. This website runs the league: club registration, fixtures, results, player profiles, the photo gallery and league administration.

This policy explains what personal information the site actually collects, how it is used, what becomes public and how you can contact us about it. It is written in plain English and designed with reference to the Australian Privacy Principles. If you have any questions, contact us through the Support page.

We collect only what the league needs to run:

• Captain accounts:the captain’s name, email address, optional phone number and a password. Passwords are sent only to our authentication provider and are never stored in our own tables or logs.
• Club and team information: the club name, the church or community the club is connected with, club colours, an optional team Bible verse, an optional chant, and the club icon and banner images.
• Player information: player names, an optional favourite Bible verse and, after a club is approved, player photos.
• Match and competition records: results, appearances, goals, rankings, achievements and awards.
• Gallery submissions:the photo, the submitter’s name and email address, a description and an optional photo credit. The site derives a short accessibility description from the submitted description.
• Support messages: the category, your message, and a name and email address if you choose to provide them. Bug reports can optionally include the page address and your browser details.
• Technical information: limited request information (such as a hashed network identifier) used to protect forms from abuse, and anonymous, cookieless page analytics on public pages.

We do not use advertising trackers and the site does not process payments.

• Directly from you — when you register a club, accept a player invitation, submit a gallery photo or send a support message.
• From your club captain— captains submit roster names when registering and manage player details for their own club. Captains are responsible for having each person’s permission first.
• Automatically — the limited technical information described above, collected when you use the site.

YACL is a league where churches participate, so club records include the church or community a club is connected with, and players and teams may choose to share a favourite Bible verse. Information like this can reveal religious beliefs, which Australian privacy law treats as sensitive information.

Sharing a Bible verse is always optional — it is never required to join a club or take part in the league. Player photos and verses submitted through a player invitation are published only with that player’s consent, given when they submit the form, and only after their captain accepts them onto the roster.

• Publishing league information (see the next section).
• Reviewing club applications, player submissions and gallery photos before anything is published.
• Contacting captains and submitters about their club, submission or message.
• Protecting the site from spam, abuse and misuse.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for third-party marketing.

Once a club is approved, the public site shows:

• the club’s name, church or community connection, colours, verse, chant, icon and banner;
• player names, player photos and optional favourite verses;
• match results, statistics, achievements and awards; and
• approved gallery photos with their captions and credits.

Pending or rejected applications, pending player submissions, pending gallery photos and support messages are not public. Captain email addresses, phone numbers and gallery submitter email addresses are not published.

The site is built on established hosting providers: Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Vercel (website hosting and anonymous analytics) and Resend (transactional email). Access to non-public information is restricted to league administration, and uploads and submissions are validated and reviewed before publication. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

Our hosting and email providers are international services and may store or process information on servers located outside Australia.

You can ask to access, correct or delete personal information about you — including asking for a player profile or photo to be removed — through the Support page using the Privacy or data request category. Please include an email address so we can verify the request and respond. We will consider requests in accordance with applicable legal obligations and legitimate operational requirements — for example, competition history may need to remain accurate even when a personal profile is removed.

We keep information while it is needed to run the league and maintain its competition history. Pending submissions that are rejected are not published, and their private files are removed as part of the review process. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it.

If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please contact us first through the Support page so we can look into it. If Australian privacy law applies to your concern and you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

We may update this policy as the league or the website changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated, and the current version will always be available at this address.
